Thaipusam and Chinese New Year

We celebrated a couple of local holidays recently and got some fun photos to share. I went to the Thaipusam festival with Liam and my friend Tomi, what an amazing experience! I have never seen anything like it - it is apparently one of the biggest Thaipusam festivals outside of India. It is Hindu festival that celebrates good overcoming evil and is best known for the participants who pierce their skin with hooks and skewers. It is believed that the more painful it is the more they will receive recognition for their god. Really amazing.

We also recently celebrated Chinese New Year - it is now the year of the rabbit! The kids always have fun parties at school to celebrate and you can't go too far without seeing an awesome Lion or Dragon dance. Fun!
