Random Singapore Fun

This is a post with a bunch of different photos from various activities! We visited Sentosa and went to the aquarium and we rode the MegaZip! Yikes - it is a 450 meter zip line that gets up to about 50km per hours! After the terrifying first step off the platform, it is great fun!

There are a couple of photos from one of Ethan's swim meets - he brought home a ribbon for winning his heat in the 50m freestyle! And a couple shots from a soccer match they played on the floating platform.

And there are also a few photos from a great party we had to, sadly, say goodbye to our friends the Mathis family who moved back to Austin. We were so sad to see them go, but are sure to see them again soon!

Thaipusam and Chinese New Year

We celebrated a couple of local holidays recently and got some fun photos to share. I went to the Thaipusam festival with Liam and my friend Tomi, what an amazing experience! I have never seen anything like it - it is apparently one of the biggest Thaipusam festivals outside of India. It is Hindu festival that celebrates good overcoming evil and is best known for the participants who pierce their skin with hooks and skewers. It is believed that the more painful it is the more they will receive recognition for their god. Really amazing.

We also recently celebrated Chinese New Year - it is now the year of the rabbit! The kids always have fun parties at school to celebrate and you can't go too far without seeing an awesome Lion or Dragon dance. Fun!
